St Brigid’s Catholic Primary School in Officer has celebrated their 10th anniversary during Catholic Education Week.
The day included a special Mass, the installation of a time capsule and the unveiling of new artwork created by year six student Ella and teacher Mrs Annette Scott.
It’s expected that the time capsule will be opened in 2034 where future generations will be able to peruse the pictures, poems and letters that current school members left.
Principal of St Brigid’s Ken Gale said the 10 year anniversary was an exciting milestone for the school community.
“We have come a long way from the green fields surrounded by farmland, and our small beginnings, with 44 students in February 2010. The formative years have flown by while we have established this wonderful community together,” Mr Gale said.
“It is truly a team effort of everyone at St Brigid’s to challenge our students to be life-long learners and active and informed citizens of our world.
“Our community at St Brigid’s is spirit-filled, with a warm and generous heart.”
Director of Catholic Education for the Diocese of Sale, Maria Kirkwood congratulated Mr Gale and the school community on their anniversary.
“The positive impact that this wonderful school has had in the rapidly developing community of Officer reflects the aspirations of our Catholic communities,” Ms Kirkwood said.
“We are very proud of the commitment, achievements and service of everyone involved.”
