Gun scare as car rifled

A MAN with a firearm slung over his shoulder was found standing next to a rifled-through car parked near a Scouts camp ground in Upper Beaconsfield over the weekend.
A witness spotted a man standing at the rear of a car parked on Harppield Road in the Dallas Brooks Park area, about 4.40pm on Saturday 14 May.
The owner began to approach the man and as he neared, he saw the men had a rifle slung over his shoulder.
Police were called to the scene.
Despite conducting a thorough search for the gun-wielding man, police could not locate him.
The car owner, however, discover the car had been rifled through.
Cash was reported missing from the vehicle, which police believe was unlocked at the time.
Police said the firearm was not used to threaten anyone in the vicinity.
Scouts were camping in the area at the time of the incident.
