A big burst of colour along Ballarto Road in Bayles is bringing joy to kids and adults alike as lockdown 6.0 continues.
’Smileville’, inspired from last year’s lockdown activity ’Spoonville’, was established by Bayles local Kathy Smith on Sunday 22 August.
It has since grown to over 50 smiles.
Kathy’s granddaughter Ayva, prep student at Bayles Regional Primary School, helped her set up a town sign and a box of blank paddles that can be decorated with smiles and nice messages.
Bayles Regional Primary School students who are learning onsite joined in the fun and have planted their own smiles in Smileville.
Kathy, of Harris Wood Creative Studio, said she was inspired to bring some joy to the tiny town after watching rallies of anti-lockdown protesters.
She lazer cut the Smileville sign and paddles for others to join in.
“It’s just a way to get people to smile,“ she said.
