Three young men have been arrested by police this morning, after they allegedly stole a car and led officers on a pursuit through Pakenham – ramming a police vehicle in the process.

The three 17-year-olds were arrested in the early hours of the morning on Friday 16 April, after investigators allege that the trio were seen driving in a stolen white Jaguar on Henry Road, Pakenham at about 1.45am.

The driver of the vehicle failed to stop when police attempted to pull them over, and a pursuit began.

During the chase, a police vehicle was allegedly rammed by the trio and sustained moderate damage, later being towed from the scene.

With the help of monitoring from the police airwing, the allegedly stolen Jaguar and its occupants were intercepted and came to a stop on Officer South Road in Officer shortly after.

Police believe that the Jaguar in question was allegedly stolen from a property on Marriott Boulevard in Lyndhurst a few days before, sometime between 10pm on Wednesday 14 April and 4.40am on Thursday 15 April.

The three offenders are alleged to have entered the garage of the Lyndhurst property, where they jemmied open an internal door to the home – all whilst the owners were sleeping inside.

Once inside the house, the young men took the keys to the Jaguar before fleeing in the stolen vehicle.

The sleeping victims were not disturbed during the alleged robbery and only discovered their Jaguar had been stolen when they woke in the morning.

The stolen vehicle is alleged to have been sighted at two attempted aggravated burglaries since it was taken, one on Glen Moidart Drive in Berwick and the other on Pink Hill Boulevard in Officer.

The three teenagers, two from Pakenham and one from Narre Warren, remain in custody and the investigation is still ongoing.
