More than ten vehicles were required to bring a “fully involved” garage fire in Kooweerup under control.

Emergency services were called to a property on Daley Road just before 1pm on Wednesday 22 January, responding to reports of a structure fire.

It took firefighters from Pakenham, Bayles, Tooradin, Kooweerup, Bunyip and Nar Nar Goon over 40 minutes to bring the blaze under control.

An advice warning was issued to the Kooweerup community by Vic Emergency as smoke blanketed the town.

Nearby residents were told to close windows and doors to prevent the smell of smoke entering their properties.

The cause of the blaze is not yet known but Victoria Police have confirmed it’s not being treated as suspicious.

Paramedics were also called to the scene but nobody required treatment.

A CFA spokesman couldn’t provide details on whether the house received any damage.
