Local sporting clubs in the Bass electorate can apply for the latest round of Vic Health’s Active Club grants which opened on Tuesday 30 July.

The grants aim to create more opportunities for women and girls to play sport, with social or modified sporting options available under the program.

State Member for Bass Jordan Crugnale said local clubs should apply for the funding to help create further opportunities for Bass residents to become more active and improve their health.

“This is about making grassroots sports more accessible to our community. This way everyone can get involved in the sports they love regardless of their age, gender or ability,” Ms Crugnale said.

“Our local clubs work hard and are so passionate about improving the health and wellbeing of our community.

“I encourage clubs to apply for a grant so we can support you to grow your club and get more people active.”

Since December, nine clubs in the electorate received the grants.

Previous recipient, the Phillip Island Lawn Bowls Club used the funds to introduce the Get on the Green days as well as organising corporate bowls and barefoot bowls programs to introduce more women to try bowls.

Clubs can also request an additional $2,000 to promote VicHealth’s This Girl Can – a campaign which encourages women in their local community to get active.

Round one application closes on Friday 30 August at 4pm. For more: https://www.vichealth.vic.gov.au/funding/active-clubgrants.
