Supermarket dignity drive

During the month of August, products donated at Coles stores will be distributed to woman in need.

Cardinia residents can donate sanitary items to national charity Share the Dignity at Coles supermarkets to assist women in need.

During the month of August, products donated at Coles stores at Lakeside Boulevard, Heritage Springs, Pakenham Place and Cardinia Lakes will be distributed to women in a range of situations including those who are homeless, fled domestic violence or are disadvantaged.

Share the Dignity was established in 2015 to provide sanitary products to homeless and at-risk women in Australia and has since distributed more than 1.2 million packets of sanitary items.

Coles State General Manager Mark O’Connor said Coles wanted to support such a worthy cause at

all stores across Victoria.

“Coles is delighted to partner with Share the Dignity to help support women in need. Every donation made by local communities during the month of August will help the charity continue to make a real difference to women who are facing hardship,” he said.

Share the Dignity Founder Rochelle Courtenay said the support of Victorians is very important in helping women across Australia.

“When you donate sanitary products through Share the Dignity’s ‘Dignity Drive’ at Coles you’re donating much more than sanitary items. You’re giving a woman experiencing homelessness or financial crisis the essentials so she doesn’t need to choose between food and dignity,” she said.

“Our goal is to collect around 300,000 packets of sanitary products in August. We’re so grateful to Coles’ customers and team members who are helping to Share the Dignity.”

More than 170,000 women turned to homelessness services for help in 2016 – 2017.
