Sentimental steal in Bunyip

By Rowan Forster

Heirlooms and cherished holiday photos have been swiped by thieves during a broad-daylight crime spree in Bunyip on Tuesday.

According to police, up to three properties were invaded on Doran Road.

The furious son of two victims has offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest – and the recovery of the stolen goods.

According to Brent Heus, his parents were robbed of precious jewellery and their Toshiba laptop, which contained hundreds of sentimental photographs.

He said the couple were shaken by the ordeal.

“They are a bit upset as they have lost so many memories and photos on the laptop,” he said.

“Between $10,000 and $12,000 worth of jewellery was taken and some of it was sentimental.”

According to several neighbours, a white ute with a canopy was seen circling the neighbourhood and pulling up at the back of the property.

It has been described as an “unusual occurrence” by neighbours, considering the street’s reputation as quiet and tight-knit.

Mr Heus claims he is yet to about any developments from police.

“Hopefully something is done soon – it’s not right,” he said.A number of furious residents also took to social media, sharing their own stories in the past week.”We noticed the same ute outside our property,” one neighbour said.

“They tried to enter our place but they weren’t successful.”
