Upgrades to three level crossing on the heritage Puffing Billy railway line will be fast-tracked.
The State Government has announced boom gates will be installed at the Edenmont Road, Clematis, Pinnocks Road in Emerald and Old Monbulk Road in Belgrave level crossings by the end of 2018.
The upgrades are part of the government’s $50 million Safer Country Crossings Program, which has been accelerated so that all upgrades are finished by the end of next year.
The program is due to be completed by mid-2019.
Member for Eastern Victoria Region Daniel Mulino said the upgrades would help keep the historic Puffing Billy railway line safer for communities to enjoy into the future.
