A MAN allegedly assaulted his partner in a public spat at their neighbour’s house in Lang Lang before returning home to set the victim’s car on fire.
Police have issued the 37-year-old Lang Lang man with a family violence safety notice, prohibiting him from contacting his partner ahead of the alleged assailant’s date at the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 24 August.
Police did not provide details on the alleged assault including the severity of injuries suffered by the 37-year-old Lang Lang woman, but said it occurred in a neighbour’s home on McDonalds Track about 8pm on Saturday 13 August.
It is unclear who called police, but when they arrived at the scene, they arrested the man at his own property.
He is alleged to have returned from his neighbour’s home and set his partner’s Kia sedan on fire inside their garage.
CFA firefighters put out the flames which caused damage to the inside of the garage.
Pakenham police Senior Sergeant Nathan Prowd said there were no existing intervention orders in place relating to the pair.
He expects a full intervention order will be issued against the Lang Lang man in court.
