In praise of Probus

THE Probus Club of Pakenham East held its annual general meeting on Wednesday March 18.
During the meeting Probus certificates of appreciation for work over the past years were presented to club secretary Dorothy Rowlands, treasurer Wal MacDonald, outings officer Barb Morrison, membership secretary Carolyn Chessum, welfare officer Judy Boardman and publicity officer Bruce Gillies.
Pakenham Rotarian Ian Wake was invited to conduct the election of office bearers and committee for 2015/16. Positions on the committee include president Kevin Mayo, secretary Barry Hodge, treasurer Colin Speirs, immediate past president Joan Upton, vice-president Marlene Knaap and committee members Kay Dempster, Joan Vogels, Peter Rowlands, Lila Pye, Kerrie Mayo, Joan Lewis and Margaret Perkins.
The club has 120 members. In addition to the club’s monthly general meeting, it has at least one outing each month. In addition, there are a number of interest groups, including dining out, photography, cards, cinema, craft, walking, golf and caravanning.
