The inaugural meeting of Pakenham’s Friendship Cafe kicked off on 20 April, with overwhelming success.
Women of all ages and backgrounds came together at Living Learning Pakenham for an informal gathering, with the aim of creating a sense of belonging to women new to the area, or for those who have found themselves isolated through the demands of family.
Project officer Jolene Stewart wants to see as many women as possible take advantage of the free weekly catch-up.
“Friendships and connections are extremely important, even more so when moving to a new area,” Ms Stewart said.
Initially offering a place for conversation, Ms Stewart hopes to eventually expand the program to include training, group outings and collaborations with local organisations.
The group’s possibilities were endless, she said.
The Women’s Friendship Cafe is open to women of all ages, backgrounds and cultures.
Participants meet on Thursdays from 9am to 12noon at Living Learning Pakenham, 6B Henry Street.
