A 23-year-old man has been arrested in Narre Warren after a pre-dawn police pursuit following the attempted theft of a cash machine.
The Garfield man was arrested soon after a white Holden Barina was dumped near Maramba Drive and Anaconda Road about 6.19am on Thursday 23 February.
Another male occupant is still at large, a Victoria Police spokeswoman said.
Police had tracked, lost and then regained chase of the vehicle with stolen number plates after an attempted theft of a cash machine at a car wash on Homestead Road, Berwick, at 4.18am.
Police didn’t supply details of the car’s movements in the next two hours but callers to 3AW reported the car being driven erratically in Berwick and Narre Warren.
Reportedly the vehicle rammed other cars and was driven on the wrong side of the road.
