Cavanagh wins it by one

DROUIN GOLF

A strong field of 110 players competed in the Stableford competition at Drouin Golf Club on Saturday.

Dave Cavanagh led A Grade finishing with 40 points, while Alex Slaughter came in runner up with 39 points.

In B Grade, Bob Naismith backed up from winning last week’s monthly medal to win this week with 41 points, while Bailey Osseweyer was the runner up with 38 points.

Ray Haley was the top scorer of C Grade with 41 points, while Dave Axford finished runner up with 38 points.

Jensen Cavanagh won D Grade with 40 points with runners up going to Graham Austin with 38 points on a countback.

Bob Naismith was the Super Six winner with 15 points on a count back.

Down the lines went to David Low 38, Ben Jeffrey 37, Rod Whitehead 37, Luke Hughes 37, Sam Gillies 36, Danny Gorman 36, Rob Frederickson 36, Reg Dixon 36, Lucas Green 36, Shane Davidson 36, Glen Ward 35, Craig Stevens 35, Pete Smith 35, Eric Robbins 35 & Glenn Bayne 35.

Target Hole winner on the 17th was Dave Cavanagh.

Nearest the pins went to 5th Dave Johnson, 8th Corey Thomson (Sharkey’s Barbershop), 10th Andrew Heagney (Pro Pin) and 14thRyan Hammond (Commercial Hotel).

Wednesday

Stableford was the competition last Wednesday.

In A Grade, Shane Wainwright was the winner scoring 36 points, while Duart Perrin finished runner up with 35 points.

Aaron Parsons was victorious in B Grade with 38 points, while Dave Axford was the runner up on a count back with 37 points.

Timothy Kofoed was the winner of the Super Six with 14 points on a countback.

Down the lines went to Tim Lawrence 37, Peter Britchford 35, Glenn Bayne 34, Rob Piner 34, Dave Cavanagh 34, Graham Austin 33 and Jarryd Leaworthy 33.

Nearest the pins went to 5th Corey Thomson, 8th Graham Rawson, 10th Peter Newton and 14th Cameron Snell.

Nick Gray, who scored 39 points, won the medley stableford competition on Sunday.

Stephen Barrett won a ball down the line with 38 points.

Upcoming competitions are Stableford, both midweek and Saturday.

There is no competition on Sunday due to the club hosting Scratch Pennant.

DROUIN LADIES

Tuesday was a Stableford Event in conjunction with the Grandmother’s Trophy.

Division 1 winner was Marg Purcell with 31 points on a countback to the runner up Meagan Ford, also 31 points.

Division 2 winner was Deb Daniel with 32 points.

Marg Rowe was runner up with 30 points.

Leanne Pollard donated the Grandmothers Trophy, and the winner was Deb Daniel with 32.

Down the line balls went to Heather Jenkins 27, Glenda Warren 27 and Kay Feaver 27.

Nearest the pins went to Shirley Roberts on the 5th, Marg Rowe 2nd shot on the 8th, Val Crowe on the 10th, and Marg Purcell on the 14th.

The previous Saturday was the quarterly Monthly Medal.

Well done to Kay Grieve on winning the April Medal.

Her score was nett 79, while Di Baskett picked up the nearest the pin.

The next two weeks will be the Eileen Smith 4BBB event.

Thursday 25 April will be our Club’s Annual Anzac Day Mixed Event…flyers are out now.

The last Tuesday this month we will play the Monthly Medal for April, as the event was postponed due to the heavy rain in the first week of the month.

The Pennant Team had a 3/2 win last Monday at Traralgon.
