DROUIN GOLF

A strong field of 111 players contested Saturday’s Stableford competition at the Drouin Golf and Country Club.

The top-two scores for the day both came in C Grade, with Jarrod Reid finished with 42 points to win the grade from Robert North who finished runner up with 40 points.

B Grade needed a countback to decide the winner, with Rob McCrae edging out Jock Granger after both players finished with 39 points.

Craig Armstrong won A Grade with 38 points, one clear of Darryl Bryce who scored 37 points.

Down the lines went to Shane Wilkinson 38, Craig Stevens, James Wagner and Nick Shannon 37, Reece Falla, Ron Tomasetti, Glenn Robinson, Scott Blaney and Duart Perrin 36, and Phil Thomson and Shaun Doak with 35 points.

Nearest the pins went to Ian Davis 5th, Llyod Mareksa 8th, Brian Seers 10th and Mick Lithgow 14th.

With the rain clearing early on Wednesday, the day turned out to be good weather-wise and some good scores were recorded.

In A Grade, John Wolswinkel top scored with a very impressive 40 points, with Duart Perrin finishing runner up with 37 points.

B Grade was a tight contest with Neil Wyatt winning on a countback over runner up Ian Hemphill, with both players scoring 35 points.

Down the lines went to Angus McArthur 36, Eddy Van Der Plight 35 and to Simon Appleby, Paul Barratt and Reg Dixon with 34 points.

Nearest the pins went to 5th Shane Dwyer, 8th Roger Barnes, 10th Paul Barratt and 14th Rod Richards.

Pennant

The Handicap Pennant season came to a close on Sunday.

Mirboo North was the venue for the grand final with our Division 2 side playing Warragul. Unfortunately, the result didn’t go our way, but it was a valiant effort from all players.

Thanks to the supporters who made the journey up the hill to cheer on the boys and well done to the team for making it to the grand final.

Upcoming competitions are stableford midweek and Saturday.

DROUIN LADIES

The Drouin ladies played the Anthony Bambridge 4BBB event on Tuesday 18 April.

Division 1 winners were Sharon Rippon (16) and Michelle Fairlie (32) with 41 points from runners up Marg Purcell (17) and Shirley Roberts (12) with 39 points.

Division 2 winners were Leanne Pollard (10) and Carol van Lochem (54) with 42 points on a countback from Karen Adams (27) and Mildred Lyon (42).

Down the line balls went to Jan Stone and Marg Murray with 39 points, Helen Moon and Judy Dixon with 38, and to Judy Bibby and Jeannette Phillips also on 38 points on a countback.

Nearest the pins went to 5th Sharon Rippon, 8th Di Baskett, 8th – second shot Val Crow, 10th no-one and 14th Leanne Pollard.

Saturday’s Stableford winner was Michelle Fairlie (33) with 33 points.

Weekday Pennant resumed on April 17 at Warragul with Drouin losing narrowly to Traralgon Azaleas 2-3.

The team is currently tied for second place on the ladder at the halfway point of the season.

Next match is at Traralgon against Churchill-Monash.

This week is the Anzac Day, Cuthbertson Canadian Foursomes Mixed event.

Next Tuesday, May 2, is May Monthly Medal Day.

Tuesday May 9 is the Foursomes Championships, 18 and 27 holes.
