REVIEW – ROUND 3

PREMIER

Narre Warren bounced into their best form by taking care of Upwey Tecoma at Kalora Park on Saturday, 65-37.

The girls were electric across the court, extending their lead at every break, and saved their best netball for the very last term, scoring 19-10 and showcasing why they are the most dangerous sides in the competition.

Chloe Phillips – once more – was a destructive menace for the Tigers with a whopping 54 goals, taking her to second overall in the competition with an impressive average of 31.3 goals per game.

Beaconsfield, meanwhile, held off a brave Wandin to move to 3-0, with the Bulldogs charging home late but ultimately falling short.

The Eagles were a class above for the first three quarters to advance to a 12-goal lead at three quarter time, but the Dogs – inspired by a 10-goal last term from Cassidy Iedema – ran out the game stronger to win the final term comfortably.

For the victors, who sit in second spot on the table, Danielle Roberts was a constant with 28 goals, while the usual suspects in Tanya Mijovic (14 goals), Rylee Nelson and Ashlee Gill were excellent.

Cranbourne also snared a strong 47-27 victory against Woori Yallock away from home, holding sway for all four quarters in a dominant performance, while Olinda Ferny Creek’s utter supremacy over the competition continued with a frightening 123-9 drubbing of Healesville.

The Bloods were merciless, scoring 46 goals in the final term alone, with Peri Stewart scoring a mind-boggling 82 goals, with Ashlee Howard providing brilliant support with 32 of her own.

DIVISION 1

ROC’s excellent start to the Division 1 season continued with a 46-29 victory against Monbulk, courtesy of a dominant first-half.

The Kangaroos set the game up with a dominant 27-11 first-half, before holding the Hawks at bay, who improved to win the third term narrowly but still fall well short.

Doveton also picked up an important win – their first of the season – by knocking off rivals Pakenham 32-24 at AJ Robinson Reserve.

It took a while for the Doves to shake off the Lions after going into half-time with a 18-15 lead, but had just enough class around the court to get the job done.

Emily Pupuke (25 goals) played a strong game for the Doves, while Roni Lee Nuku-Dawson was also excellent.

In other games across the round, Warburton Millgrove held off Belgrave in a 45-44 thriller at South Belgrave after narrowly leading all day, while Mount Evelyn had too much class for Emerald to win 48-23.
