It was a great day for bowls on Thursday as 44 members of the South West Gippsland Midweek Bowling Group may their way to San Remo for the latest weekly challenge.

The people at San Remo made us all welcome as usual as Pauline and John signed us all in as Peter and David prepared the teams.

And out we went into the frigid air to fight it out once again.

But once we started the sky cleared up and the sun shone down on us.

And, as there was virtually no wind, we all warmed up and felt comfortable on the green.

There was so much friendly banter across all the rinks, and lots of laughter as always but some great quality bowling all day.

There were a couple of wrong bias bowls across the day which adds to the Royal Children’s Hospital tin.

As the day progressed towards the end, the weather turned quite cold as a breeze came from the south.

There was definitely an Antarctic feel to it, but we managed to fight through the weather to finish the day.

As always, we can only have one winning team and today’s winners on a score of 36 were Peter Boradale (S), Mark Andreatta (2), Bill Williams (L) and Wayne Stevens (3).

Runners up for the day on 35 points were Pauline McWilliams (2), Mick Sheers (3), Tammy Humphrey (L) and Louis Magri (S).

Best One Game winners on 19 points were Luke Monckton (S), Stephen Muffie (3) and Bob Arnold (L).

A big thank you to Mark and Mick behind the bar, and Gwen and Bob in the kitchen as well as anyone I missed.

What a superb job these volunteers do every week.

And just so no-one feels left out, can I also thank all our bowlers who try to turn up every week and make Thursday’s so much fun.

Next week we will reconvene at San Remo once more to continue our weekly game.

We look forward to seeing everyone on site by 10am.

Until then stay safe and have fun.
