Andrew McNabb, the former council candidate that led a prominent campaign in 2020 has ruled himself out of the contest later this year.

McNabb told the Gazette he won’t be making another bid in the 2024 council elections as he has ‘plenty on his plate’ this year.

An outspoken campaign was run by McNabb in the 2020 council elections for Cardinia Shire where he railed against the ‘faceless bureaucrats’ and ‘red tape’ of the ‘council machine’.

The campaign gained more prominence as McNabb led the only full slate of candidates covering every ward called ‘Clean Up Cardinia’.

The slate garnered controversy with claims of over-politicising the election as various links to the Liberal Party emerged during the campaign.

McNabb ran for the Beacon Hills Ward where he achieved 23 percent of the vote, but lost to incumbent Cr Brett Owen who won with an absolute majority of 65 percent.
