Cora Lynn Recreation Reserve is finally an upgrade to their decades old sport rooms, after years of tireless work by the clubs.

Cardinia Shire Council approved $1.9 million to construct a new sporting facility.

It will accommodate change rooms for players and umpires, a first aid room, strapping rooms, meeting and storage rooms, unisex toilets and a gym.

Included is a new timekeeper’s box and equipment shed. The project has been campaigned for by the committee of management and user groups for a number of years to see their decades-old facility upgraded.

“We are super excited, we are a fairly new committee, we have done a lot of work around the ground. We have been waiting for a long time, it’s great to be able to attract more people to the club, secretary of the reserve committee of management Richard Fox said.

It will demolish the existing facility and construct the new rooms as a modular build – a form construction which builds sections off-site where they are then transported and assembled at the location.

The overall budget available is $4.1 million with a $2.51 million contribution from the State Government and the rest contributed from the council.

Melton’s Modular Spaces Pty Ltd has been awarded the contract with $1.9 million of provisional funding.

Designs for the project have been finalised, agreed upon by all stakeholders in April 2022.
