Nar Nar Goon rises at Dawn

A Gunfire Breakfast was served at the Nar Nar Fire Station.

Nar Nar Goon RSL hosted their annual ANZAC Day Dawn Service at the Nar Nar Goon Memorial Park, to another large local attendance.

Led by President Terence Reeves and Secretary Samantha O’Sullivan, the service was supported by a catafalque party from 403 Squadron Australian Air Force Cadets from Beaconsfield, and a large contingency of cadets.

Terence read a diary excerpt from soldier Private Richard Thomas Pendlebury of life on the front lines. Poems were delivered by school captains from Nar Nar Goon Primary School, and Cadet Corporal Eloise Babet read In Flanders Fields, whilst Cadet Sergeant Layla Himmerman read The Ode.

A local bugler played The Last Post as both the Australian and New Zealand flags were lowered, and a clear dawn broke.

Wreaths were laid by Nar Nar Goon RSL, Cardinia Shire Council, Chairo Christian College, Bramich family and other local residents left floral tributes.

Nar Nar Goon CFA then offered a gunfire breakfast after the service to a large crowd.
