Lang Lang locals met a furry new friend recently, who’s unusual appearance certainly made quite the splash!

This cute little seal stopped by to say hello to Cathy Fyfe and her family at the Lang Lang Foreshore Caravan Park on Friday 8 October, and put on an adorable show that brightened everyone’s mood.

Ms Fyfe, who owns and operates the caravan park, said that her and her family had never seen a seal at the Lang Lang foreshore before.

“We’ve seen quite a few different animals during lockdown, but this was our first time seeing a seal,” Ms Fyfe said.

“It was just gorgeous!”

Ms Fyfe said that the friendly young seal had sat on the concrete steps and posed for a few photos before eventually swimming off – but it made a bit of a splash before going on its merry way!

“It was so cute, it was just sitting there watching us and when it did go in about 5 to 10 minutes later, it turned around on its back and was playing with some sticks in the water,” she said.

“During lockdown we’ve been fortunate enough to see a lot of different wildlife, including kangaroos on the beach, small bats and lots of different bird life – but we’ve never seen a seal before.”

Ms Fyfe said that the Lang Lang Foreshore Caravan Park were “happy to welcome” this cute little visitor, who they hoped would return soon, and they were also hoping to welcome back guests and holiday makers in the near future.

“We’re a little hidden gem here and it’s the perfect place to get back to nature,” she said.
