Man critical after four-car crash

A man was airlifted to The Alfred hospital with life-threatening injuries following a horror four-car crash in Bunyip.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Princes Highway and Hope Street following reports of a serious collision just after 2pm on Tuesday 15 December.

Three people were assessed at the scene by paramedics, an Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman confirmed.

Pakenham SES and Nar Nar Goon CFA volunteers worked to free a man, believed to be in his 30s, who was mechanically trapped in his van for 40 minutes.

That man was flown to The Alfred hospital in a critical condition, however his injuries remain unknown.

A woman, believed to be in her 70s, suffered injuries to her arm and face. She was taken by road ambulance to Dandenong Hospital in a stable condition.

Meanwhile, a man, believed to be in his 60s, was also taken to Dandenong Hospital by road ambulance after reportedly suffering chest pain. He’s understood to also be in a stable condition.

Police believe a van hit the rear of a Ute, pushing it into a truck, before the van veered across the road and hit another vehicle.

The exact circumstances surrounding the collision are under investigation.

Bunyip CFA, Nar Nar Goon CFA, Pakenham SES and FRV were all called to the scene.

The Princes Highway was closed Melbourne bound for more than an hour.
