Feel the festivity

The traditional Christmas carols in Cardinia will look a little different this year, with the council announcing all festive events will be held online.

Despite life beginning to return to a ‘Covid normal’, the joy of Christmas will need to be felt from the couch this year.

Instead of an in-person event, the Emerald Carols by the Couch will be live-streamed from 7pm-8pm on Friday 11 December.

A week later, on Sunday 20 December, the Carols by the Creek virtual event will run from 7.30pm-9pm, providing a night of carolling and community connection.

But the council has vowed to not lose the festive feeling, launching 12 days of Christmas celebrations from Monday 7 December.

The ‘Christmas in Cardinia’ celebrations will see a different event held online in the lead up to the big day.

The events will be posted as a video on Cardinia Shire Council’s Facebook page, where it can be viewed and re-watched at any time.

Events include gingerbread house workshops, Christmas sing-alongs, Friday night sounds and an evening with local young musicians.
