Two Cardinia Shire Scout groups will significantly benefit from Federal Government funding through its $5.5 million four-year investment into Scouts’ infrastructure.

Pakenham Lakeside Scout Group is set to receive $600,000 to build its hall on the grounds of Pakenham Lakeside Primary School, while 1st Kooweerup Scout Group will take home $150,000 to upgrade its hall at 1 Mickle Street.

Member for Bass Jordan Crugnale was thrilled to make the announcement as it will have a positive impact on Cardinia Shire’s youth.

“Scout Halls are the beating heart of local communities and I have no doubt that Pakenham and Kooweerup Scouts and locals will get so much out of this new building and upgrade,” she said.

“Whether it be for a Scouts meet up or dance class, Pakenham Lakeside and Kooweerup Scout Halls will be home to people across our community.”

Scouts and community groups across the state can look forward to new and improved Scout halls as they begin to safely return to face to face activities.

This announcement builds upon the 11 Scout hall capital projects already announced as part of the government’s 2018 election commitment to build and refurbish Scout halls across the state.

Local Scout groups will match funding for each project working with Scouts Victoria and community partners, bringing the total investment to $11 million.

“We are proud to partner with Scouts Victoria to deliver upgrades that will give our Scouts and local community groups the modern facilities they deserve,” Youth Minister Ros Spence said.

“This investment will help grow our Scouts network – empowering thousands of Scouts volunteers who give so much to their local communities.”
