Horrifying ‘bath bomb’ sparks recall request

A Pakenham woman was left distressed after her children severely reacted after being exposed to a toy ‘bath bomb’.

Bree Rooff’s two children, aged five and six, were in the tub with the Blizzard ‘bath bomb’ when it started to fizz.

Allegedly, both children began to physically gag, with one claiming they “can’t breathe”.

“Within moments my daughter poked out her tongue. I asked what was wrong she didn’t answer,” Ms Rooff recalled.

“She then gasped “I can’t breathe” and started to gag. I ripped her out the water and my son started gagging also.

“At this time, my mouth and throat started burning.”

The children’s toy was a gift that was purchased from Kmart.

Ms Rooff said the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) is currently working on a recall of the product.

Both children, and Ms Rooff, were assessed by Nurse on Call and were told they were lucky they did not ingest more chemicals.

“This evening my daughter still has a sore throat but my son is well,” she said.

“My husband and I still have intense headaches from whatever we had been exposed to for only a few moments.”
