An upcoming virtual music festival hopes to sustain local musicians whose livelihoods have been impacted by the coronavirus crisis.

A bunch of emerging musicians and artists from across the south east have teamed up to create the Keep it Live festival, which will be showcased virtually from Saturday 19 to Sunday 20 September.

From the event, money will be raised to support venues in Belgrave and artists affected by the pandemic.

The festival will feature two full days of musical acts, as well as workshops by visual and performance artists.

“The event seeks to foster a sense of solidarity, community and connection,” event organiser Rachel Tattersalls said.

“The idea for the festival emerged in response to posts on social media from local venues who have decided to take breaks due to the stressful nature of the situation.

“It seeks to make people feel less alone despite being in lockdown and recreate the spontaneous connection of music festivals.”

More than 25 artists have generously agreed to share their skills and time, including Pakenham based singer songwriter, Clint Wilson.

Mr Wilson’s personal brand of country music takes on a uniquely Australian twist with titles like ‘Couldn’t Promise you Rain’, his latest song that follows the life of a drought-affected farmer whose kids are all grown up.

The singer songwriter captivates audiences and brings them to tears with his stories, which are at once universal and personal.

His latest ten-track album ‘Another Death in the Family’ drops on Friday 11 September.
