Police responded following reports of a man loitering near Duncan Drive in Pakenham on Sunday morning.
Investigators were told a girl was riding her bike when a man began following her about 10.30am.
No contact was made and the girl was not harmed.
Police patrolled the area but did not locate anyone.
The family of the girl has chosen not to make a statement at this time.
