Members of Cardinia Men’s Shed have been hard at work, building a small fire truck for the CFA.

The bright little truck will be used at CFA open days and recruitment drives around the Cardinia catchment.

The craftsmen met with the CFA’s Lisa Hicks for an official handover at Pakenham’s Living and Learning Centre on Thursday 28 March.

“They did such a wonderful job; it will help with volunteering, something to attract the families and kids when we are doing recruitment campaigns,” Ms Hicks said.

“We were able to secure a grant of $300 for the Men’s Shed to complete the project.

“I went down there with a vision in my mind and they made it happen; it had to fit in the back of the Ranger, be light enough for two people to carry and safe for the kids.

“It has working lights, a little ladder and a fire hose. It’s amazing.”

The grant was secured through the CFA’s Volunteer Sustainability Team, South East Region.
