Only a few tears were shed on an otherwise smooth first day for the preps at St Clare’s Primary School in Officer.
“It went terrifically well; we have four sets of twins which is our claim to fame,” Principal Helen Staindl said.
“We set up a red carpet welcome mat with balloons as the children walked into the learning space, and each child received a medal. It’s a bit of a tradition here.
“Afterwards we held a ‘Tea and Tears’ for parents and guardians, which is a great support network event. There were a couple of parents who shed a tear and a couple of grandparents too. But all in all it was a very smooth day.”
The St Clare’s preps are looking forward to an activity-packed year, which includes swimming lessons, a buddy program, and lots of reading and writing.
