Navy in common

Daniel Ryan and Henry Page meet in Bunyip.

By Roman Kulkewycz

While Naval Chief Petty Officer Daniel Ryan, who is stationed at Darwin, was visiting his mother Annette Wade in Drouin recently, she suggested that he visit Hillview Bunyip Aged Care resident, Mr Henry Page, a retired Naval Commander in the Engineering Department.

Annette is a nurse at Hillview and thought that Mr Page would like to see Daniel and talk about life in the Navy today, compared to when he was in the Navy.

Mr Page was delighted to see Daniel and soon both men were deep in conversation.

They enjoyed each other’s company.

Although both men are Naval Officers, Mr Page graduated to his rank from the Officer Training School, whilst Daniel, who has been in the Navy for 13 years began his career as an Able Seaman and graduated to Chief Petty Officer through promotion.
