Charges pending following shopping centre scare

A group of youths may face criminal charges after deliberately setting off an alarm in Pakenham Place shopping centre on Wednesday 21 November.

Staff and punters were evacuated from the shopping centre, and emergency services were quick on scene, when the alarms were tripped around 11am.

Shoppers in Coles, Target and other stores got quite the scare when forced to evacuate the premises.

“Police were taking notes off some Coles staff, CFA said on the radio they were investigating inside Target. I’ve heard many more sirens go off since being home,” one witness wrote on Facebook.

“That’s scary!” another said.

Police say three youths were spoken to and could face charges for the disruptive prank.
