A Berwick woman who stopped traffic to film a crash scene on her mobile phone while driving has been ridiculed by police.

The 41-year-old was driving on the Monash Freeway in Mount Waverley on Sunday when she passed an accident at about 10.50am.

Highway Patrol officers were on the scene when they noticed the woman’s Mondeo sedan slow down beside the wreckage.

They were stunned to discover she had pulled out her mobile phone and used both hands to either film or photograph the damaged vehicle as she drove past.

She was intercepted and issued with penalty notices for using a mobile phone whilst driving, failing to have proper control of her vehicle and careless driving totalling $1095.00.
