Opening their hearts and pockets, Chairo Christian School staff, students and parents raised a generous $3556 for the Turn on the Tap campaign.
In the eight-week drive, students were each given a drink bottle which they were in charge of filling with money from their families, friends and the local community.
The program runs from June through to December and the funds raised will help to provide poor families and communities in the developing world with clean water and better sanitation and hygiene, preventing dangerous waterborne diseases and saving lives.
“This fundraiser has been a lifesaver for people around the world,” Campus Principal Peter Wells said.
“This is our biggest result yet.”
Turn on the Tap projects assist with the provision of wells, toilets, rainwater tanks and BioSand water filters, as well as health and hygiene education and training.
Mrs Pat Gough accepted a cheque on behalf of Samaritan’s Purse and thanked the school for its continued support and prayers.
“The opportunity to support this worthwhile initiative provides a wonderful reminder to students of the example of Jesus as a servant meeting the needs of others,” she said.
