Pakenham Hills Primary School students have ditched the cars this month in favour of walking, riding or skating.
On Friday 13 October, the school was joined on their stroll to school by Cardinia Shire Mayor Brett Owen for the official launch of VicHealth’s Walk to School.
Held every October, the annual month-long initiative is aimed at promoting health and fitness in school children.
Pakenham Hills Primary School students met outside Army Road’s Baptist church, one of the designated areas, up to a kilometre away from the school entrance, where parents can drop off and pick up their children, allowing the children to walk, ride, scoot or skate the rest of the way.
Gazette photographer Rob Carew was on hand to capture the action.
