One Girl Ambassador Elyse Willemsen hosted a Do It In A Dress yoga event at Wilson Botanic Park on Saturday 7 October.
The sunny Saturday morning saw individuals from all walks of life donning a school dress and a yoga mat to raise money for girls education in Africa.
The session was run by local yoga instructor Aaron Petty, who had the group bending and stretching at ungodly angles.
“Today, we are going to practise gratitude,” Aaron said.
“How lucky are we to be able to come down to this beautiful park on a Saturday morning, with friends and strangers alike, and practise some yoga in the sun?
“Let’s take this moment to think about how fortunate we are, and remind ourselves that there are people less fortunate than us.
“Millions of girls all over the world are denied an education, and today we are coming together to change that.”
Following the stretch session, the group tucked into large fruit platters that were donated by Woolworths in Berwick.
Elyse raised an impressive $602 on the day.
With that money alone, two girls in Uganda and Sierra Leone will be able to graduate.
For those who could not attend on the day, donations are still being accepted online at: www.doitinadress.com/elyse-willemsen.
