Family’s century in the Red Cross

The Red Cross Pakenham Branch held its annual meeting on Wednesday 23 August at Meadowvale Retirement Village.
At the meeting, Ms Lyn Stephenson was re-elected as Chairman, Helen Watson was elected as Secretary and Pauline Grey as Treasurer.
“The Red Cross has always been part of my life. My mother was a member for 50 years and I’m now coming up to 50 years as a member,” Pakenham Red Cross Chairman Ms Stephenson said.
“It’s great to carry on with something that is so worthwhile.”
Off the back of releasing her latest book, Fortune’s Son, Pakenham-Upper author Jennifer Scoullar attended as a guest speaker on the day.
Ms Scoullar discussed her latest release, which the first of three historical fiction novels in her upcoming trilogy.
She also spoke about her experiences as an author and explained the novel-writing process.
After the formalities, attendees took part in a generous afternoon tea and fellowship.
The Red Cross Pakenham Branch meets at Meadowvale Retirement Village at 2pm on the fourth Wednesday of each month and encourages anyone who is interested in becoming a member to come along.
