A Nissan Patrol ended up on its side after a collision with a Toyota Corolla at the intersection of Henry Road and Bridge Road on Thursday 24 August.
Police reported that a 35-year-old driver of the Corolla mistook the green turning arrow for a green light, running straight into oncoming traffic, about 1.15pm.
Emergency services were on the scene a short time later.
The Patrol driver was uninjured and the driver of the Corolla was taken to the Dandenong hospital for observation.
Cardinia Highway Patrol’s Leading Senior Constable Anthony Templar said the Corolla driver would receive a $390 infringement notice and loss of three demerit points for disobeying traffic signals.
