Dramatic arrest goes viral

A policeman has drawn his gun during a dramatic arrest in Pakenham.

A dramatic arrest in Pakenham on Friday 7 July, during which a police officer drew his gun on a man believed to be behind the wheel of a stolen vehicle, has been captured on video.
In the footage, captured by a second motorist and posted on social media, a police officer is seen arguing with the driver of an allegedly stolen orange Holden ute before pulling out his gun and dragging the man from the vehicle.
The incident occurred near Kooweerup Road at 11am, and the footage quickly went viral.
A Victoria Police spokesperson would not comment on the arrest, but said it was linked to a burglary in Upper Beaconsfield the previous day.
“Police are investigating a burglary at a residence on Stoney Creek Road in Beaconsfield Upper yesterday (6 July),” the spokesperson said.
“The investigation is ongoing and anyone with further information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
