Murder trial delay

Kylie Blackwood was found dead in her McCaffery Rise home in 2013.

The family of Pakenham mother Kylie Blackwood have been forced to wait for another seven months to learn if the man charged with her 2013 murder will face trial.
On Monday 1 May, Scott Alan Murdoch appeared at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court for a committal hearing but had his case adjourned until December so his lawyers could seek access to a report about DNA evidence, metropolitan media has reported.
The latest delay follows an almost three-year period from the time Ms Blackwood was found dead in her McCaffery Rise home on 1 August 2013 until Mr Murdoch was charged with her murder in April last year.
The delay in proceedings means that if Mr Murdoch is committed to stand trial, he will not front a jury until well into next year at the earliest, ABC News reported.
Mr Murdoch was remanded in custody to return for his next committal hearing on 4 December.
