Cheap As Chips has officially opened in Pakenham.
The discount variety store had its first day of business on 30 March and celebrated with a jam-packed day of entertainment.
An ice-cream truck, sausage sizzle, magician, popcorn display and a visit from mascot Mr Chip were part of the day’s festivities.
Store manager Kali Lodge said staff were run off their feet during the grand opening, with customers taking advantage of the low-cost goods.
“It was a big day, a very busy day with lots of customers,” Ms Lodge said.
Located at the old Pakenham IGA site on the corner of Main Street and Drake Place, the store employs about 20 locals.
Cheap As Chips specialises in “low-cost but quality” products ranging from arts and craft, to furnishings, confectionery, hardware, garden and party supplies, beauty products, homewares, stationery, toys, motoring products, pet accessories and travel goods.
