FIREWORKS weren’t the only attraction drawing some 5000 people to this year’s Pakenham Carols by Candlelight event.
A live nativity scene – featuring a real life sheep – and an appearance from Santa were few of the additional highlights which made up the festive event on Saturday 10 December.
Local kids played out the nativity scene and other Christmas performances.
Cardinia Shire Mayor Brett Owen welcomed everyone to the carols event at Toomuc Reserve, making special mention of volunteers from Pakenham Rotary and Lions Clubs, the Pakenham SES and CFA, Cardinia District Scouts, Neighbourhood Watch Cardinia, and St Patricks Catholic Church Pakenham.
Families held onto candles as they sung along to carols performed by Cardinia Civic Concert Band and the community choir.
A spectacular firework display closed the event.
