PAKENHAM and Berwick sport clubs have secured State Government funding to upgrade equipment in the latest round of the Sporting Club Grants Program.
Pakenham Upper-Toomuc Cricket Club (PUTCC), Pakenham Football Club and Casey Little Athletics Centre in Berwick have received about $1000 towards purchasing new equipment.
The cricket club was awarded an additional $1950 for PUTCC website development.
Eastern Victoria Region MP Daniel Mulino said grassroots sport clubs were the heart of Cardinia.
He said they kept families connected, kids happy and healthy, and communities safe.
“Local sport clubs are where people of all walks of life get together and embrace a healthy and active lifestyle,” Mr Mulino said.
“We love our sport in Cardinia. Our clubs do a tremendous job and we’re helping them grow so that we can change people’s lives for the better.
“Cardinia athletes deserve the best facilities and the best equipment.”
Mr Mulino said the grants would cover the costs of new equipment such as bats or balls, modern uniforms or development programs for coaches, players and officials.
