NOT-FOR-PROFIT Everything Patchwork and Quilting (EPQ) has presented Gembrook CFA with a cheque for $4753.
The quilting group raised the funds at an exhibition on 3 September at the Gembrook Community Complex where hundreds of residents enjoyed the crafts of 27 traders.
Well-known art quilter, teacher and accredited judge Jann Haggart attended as a special guest and had a variety of her works displayed illustrating many different techniques.
Snuggly Quilts program co-ordinator Marie Lee also spoke to attendees about her hard-working state-wide volunteers who craft quilts to be gifted to sick children at the Royal Children’s Hospital.
Meanwhile Sunshine Australia co-ordinator Judy Wardale had a stall showcasing some of the work she undertakes in a small village in southern India.
“From opening at 10am until closing at 4pm there was a constant happy buzz of people looking, learning, buying and planning their next project,” EPQ’s Glenise Gallagher said.
“The event is organised by a very small committee which is well supported by local businesses and, on the day, by willing helpers.”
