A TYNONG horse rider has won an award at the Australian Interschool Equestrian Championships (AIEC) in Sydney last month.
Sophie Bennett competed in the cross-country event and finished her run exactly on optimum time to close out the special Eventer’s Award across all levels.
She also placed 10th in the show jumping event in her division.
Sophie’s fellow member of the St Paul’s Elite Performers Program Emily Downes also competed at the championships.
The Nar Nar Goon resident placed 11th in the AM5 event, received a second-place ribbon in the 2phase and third place for the A2.
The points she was awarded added up to the overall Reserve Champion in her class.
This year the national championships attracted more than 2000 school-based competitors from across Australia aged between five and 18 years.
