ELDERLY residents went into lockdown following a nearby gas leak in Bunyip.
Police said residents at Hillview Bunyip Aged Care were told to stay indoors during the three-hour clean up after workers drilled a hole into a high pressure gas line close to the aged care home.
“There was no evacuation. They were advised to stay inside,” Pakenham police Senior Sergeant Graeme Stanley said.
At 2.20pm on Thursday 6 October, CFA and other emergency responders turned up to cordon off streets and warn nearby residents of the hazard on A’Beckett Road.
The leak was isolated by 5.45pm that afternoon.
Hillview Bunyip Aged Care was contacted for comment about the incident. They did not provide a comment.
Police received no reports of injuries.
