Chopper drops in

Vietnam War era helicopter, the Huey.

A VIETNAM War era helicopter visited Pakenham on Friday afternoon, for a paint job at United Panels in Bormar Drive.
The UH-1V model is known as the Huey. This one was used for casualty evacuation, and is the only one of its kind in Australia.
Dandenong Cranbourne RSL president John Wells said the helicopter was brought down from its pylon for a clean-up and safety check after the strong winds of April and May.
“We found the paint was in a very bad way and looked for somewhere that could do a great job. This is part of a memorial and has to show respect,” he said.
“The helicopter is a national icon and has attracted visitors from all over Australia and even from the UK and the US.”
