Americans’ bus tour makes rolling news

FORTY American editors and journalists visited the Gazette’s Pakenham office on Friday 1 July.
The visitors were delegates at an International Society of Weekly Newspaper Editors conference held at the University of Melbourne.
Following the two day conference, the delegates and their partners took a road trip to East Gippsland stopping for morning tea at Star News Group’s headquarters on the way.
The visitors toured the Gazette building meeting reporters, advertising representatives and production staff.
Regional editor Garry Howe gave them a presentation on the history of the company and its publications.
After re-boarding their bus, the delegates then stopped at the Warragul Gazette, a robatic dairy near Sale and a vegetable farm at Lindenow.
On Saturday they enjoyed a pie and beer at the local footy at Wy Yung.
