AKOONAH Park Men’s Shed in Berwick has created a way to share their charitable spirit around with a raffle to benefit any community group that wants to get involved.
The men in the shed have almost completed construction of a replica model Land Rover Series II that will be raffled off to raise money for the community.
The model Land Rover will be powered by twin electric motors and will have working lights, and a custom steering wheel that will make the model a robust and future heritage replica.
With an expected completion date of the project in early July, the men’s shed has decided to spread the cheer of the model.
The model Land Rover will be raffled once it is complete and the Men’s Shed has invited any community groups to sell tickets and raise money for their activities.
Ron Sterling, vice-president of the Men’s Shed and project co-ordinator is inviting community groups from Casey and Cardinia to join in this shared fund-raiser.
“We will carry the costs of the project … and share the sale of raffle tickets on a 50/50 basis with local schools, playgroups, other Men’s Sheds, service clubs, in fact any local group who would like to raise some money for their own activities,” Mr Sterling said.
“For our share we will be supporting men’s health and welfare issues within our own shed, with a range of activities for our 150 members.”
Mr Sterling said the Akoonah Park Men’s Shed was glad to help out and support other groups that benefit the wider community.
“We would like to support the local fund-raising committees from our own community and so we make this offer to any interested group,“ he said.
Any interested community groups can contact Ron Sterling at the Akoonah Park Men’s Shed on 9707 2261 for any further details.
