A SIGNAL fault delayed services along the Gippsland line on Wednesday morning.
Metro Trains spokesperson Sammie Blacks said a track circuit fault in Caulfield caused signalling problems.
This affected the Pakenham line just after 8am as a speed restriction of 15km per hour to trains passing through Caulfield station caused delays.
A V/Line spokesperson said a broken rail was reported near Caulfield station just before 10am.
The 9.15am Southern Cross to Traralgon train was delayed by 60 minutes. The train was terminated at Moe and coaches replaced the service for the remainder of the journey.
The broken rail also disrupted the 10.20am Southern Cross to Traralgon service. A replacement bus service from Morwell to Traralgon delayed travellers by 35 minutes.
The 12.20pm Traralgon to Southern Cross and 1.16pm Traralgon to Southern Cross trains were also affected.
“The issue was rectified at about 11.20am,” the V/Line spokesperson said.
“No further service changes are expected after the 1.16pm service.”
Customers delayed by more than 60 minutes can claim compensation for their journey by calling 1800 800 007.
