Stolen car set alight

A CAR parked outside a pub in Beaconsfield was stolen, dumped and set alight on the freeway over the weekend.
Pakenham police Senior Sergeant Nathan Prowd said the destroyed blue 2003 Mitsubishi sedan was left at the pub by the owner’s son who sensibly chose not to drink and drive after a stint at the Central Hotel in Beaconsfield.
The man parked the car at the pub about 7pm on Friday 29 April before setting in for a couple of drinks.
It is unclear when the car was stolen or who took it, but it was found burnt out under the freeway overpass on Officer South Road in Officer at 12.45am the next morning.
The car belonged to the Beaconsfield patron’s mother.
Police are appealing for anyone with information about the whereabouts of the car between 7pm on Friday 29 April and 12.45am on Saturday 30 April to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
